In the atom of an element X, 6 electrons are present in the outermost shell. If it acquires noble gas configuration by accepting the requisite number of electrons, then what would be the charge on the ion so formed?

In this atom, 6 electrons are already present in its outermost orbitals. In order to attain a noble gas, the configuration element has to accept two-electron hence its charge is -2.
