Q10) The table below shows the data on likely heights of boys and girls as they grow in age. Draw graphs showing height and age for both boys and girls on the same graph paper. What conclusions can be drawn from these graphs?

Solution:

The graph explains the relation between height of boys/girls with age. There is a sudden increase in height in both cases during puberty. The height of girls is less than boys between the age of 4 to 8. When girls reach the stage of puberty, their rate of increase in height is more than that of boys. In the stage of puberty the height is controlled by the actions of hormones. The growth in both the sexes becomes stable in the later ages.
