A longitudinal wave travels at a speed of 0.3 m/s and the frequency of a wave is 20Hz. Find the separation between the two consecutive compressions


Wave velocity = 0.3 m/s, frequency = 20 Hz,

To find the wavelength (as wavelength is the separation between two consecutive compressions of a wave)

As we know,

Wave velocity = frequency x wavelength

Wavelength = wave velocity / frequency

= 0.3 / 20

= 1.5 x 10-2m
