It is observed that the readings on the spring balance decrease. When the metal solid cylinder is immersed in the water jar, it is acted upon by an upward force which is in the opposite direction to the weight of the cylinder which is why the cylinder appears to be lighter

cylinder hanging with spring balance the
cylinder is gradually immersed into a
water container
in a jar now what changes do you expect
in the readings of spring balance
so the answer is first i would like to
explain the diagram
that is this diagram contains and spring
balance
here this brown part is basically the
spring balance
okay now a slander is tied to it
and we are trying to dip the cylinder in
the water containing jar
okay this jar is filled with water so
the readings
should be when we are observing the
readings in this spring balance
it will go down the readings will
decreasing
in the spring balance why is it so
because
the metal cylinder is immersed in the
water jar
so there is a force acted upon it okay
there is an upward force acted upon it
and in is in opposite direction so
the weight of the cylinder which is the
weight of the cylinder
is decreasing that is why the cylinder
appears to be
lighter because there is much more
weight when
it is not when it is not in water then
the
cylinder sweetest weight of cylinder is
higher no water
okay when it is not in water
when we dip it in water then the weight
of cylinder will
increase why it is so because there is
an
upward force acting on it which is in
opposite direction of the weight of the
cylinder so this is how this
readings in the spring balance will
going to decrease
