Q10) The base of a container measures 15 cm \times^{ } 20 cm. It is placed on a table top. If the weight of the container is 60N, what is the pressure exerted by the container on the table top?

Solution:

Area of the base of container = 15 cm \times^{ } 20 cm

=\frac{15}{100}m\ \times\frac{20}{100}m

= \frac{300}{1000}m^2

Force = weight = 60 N

Pressure = Force/Area

P = \frac{60\times10000}{300} = 2000 Pa
