Question 1

Q1) The temperature of a body rises by 1°C. What is the corresponding rise on the

(a) fahrenheit scale

(b) kelvin scale

Solution:

(a) 100°C = 180°F

Therefore 1 division on celsius scale

=1.80/1.00 1

= 1.8°F

For 1°C rise corresponding rise in fahrenheit = 1.8°F

(b) SINCE 100°C= 100K

1 DIVISION ON CELSIUS SCALE = 100/100 1

= 1K

FOR 1°C RISE CORRESPONDING RISE IN KELVIN IS 1K
