Question 43 Rational Numbers - Exercise

-¾ is smaller than -2.

Answer:

Express each of the given rational numbers with 4 as the common denominator.

Now,

-\frac{3}{4}=\frac{-3\times1}{4\times1}=(-\frac{3}{4})

-\frac{2}{1}=\frac{-2\times4}{1\times4}=(-\frac{8}{4})

Then,

-\frac{3}{4}>-\frac{8}{4}

Hence,

-¾ > -2

So, -¾ is greater than -2.
