# NCERT Exemplar Solutions Class 8 Mathematics Solutions for Rational Numbers - Exercise in Chapter 1 - Rational Numbers

Question 13 Rational Numbers - Exercise

\frac{5}{6} lies between \frac{2}{3} and 1.

Express each of the given rational numbers with 6 as the common denominator.

Now,

\frac{2}{3} =\frac{2\times2}{3\times2}=\frac{4}{6}

\ 1=\frac{1\times6}{1\times6}=\frac{6}{6}

Then,

=\frac{2}{3} < \frac{5}{6} < 1

So, \frac{5}{6} lies between \frac{2}{3} and 1.
