Question 55 Statistics and Probability - Exercise 13.3

A die has six faces marked 0, 1, 1, 1, 6, 6. Two such dice are thrown together and total scores are recorded. What is the probability of getting a total of 7?

Total number of possible outcomes = 62 = 36

Number of favourable outcomes for getting a total of 7 are 12

→  F(E) = 12

Probability of getting sum 7 = F(E)/T(E)

Total no. of all possible outcomes of getting sum either

(0, 1, 2, 6, 7 and 12) = 36

(sum of numbers on both dice is 7) = 12/36 = 1/3

Hence, the probability of getting sum on both dice 7 is = 1/3
