Question 60 Probability Exercise 13.1

A bag contains 3 red balls and 5 black balls. A ball is drawn at random from the bag. What is the probability that the ball drawn is Red.

Answer:

Solution:

When an experiment is repeated numerous times under identical circumstances, the proportion (or relative frequency) of times that the event is anticipated to occur is known as the probability of the event.

Given: A bag contains 3 red, and 5 black balls. A ball is drawn at random

Required to find: Probability of getting a red ball

Total number of balls 3 + 5 = 8

Total number red balls are 3

We know that, Probability = Number of favourable outcomes/ Total number of outcomes

Thus, the probability of drawing a red ball = 3/8
