# RD Sharma Solutions Class 10 Mathematics Solutions for Probability Exercise 13.1 in Chapter 13 - Probability

Question 2 Probability Exercise 13.1

The probability that it will rain tomorrow is 0.85. What is the probability that it will not rain tomorrow?

Solution:

The likelihood of an event happening is measured by probability. Many things are difficult to completely predict in advance. Using it, we can only forecast the probability, or likelihood, of an event occurring.

Given: Probability that it will rain tomorrow P(E) = 0.85

Required to find: Probability that it will not rain tomorrow P(E)

We know that sum of the probability of occurrence of an event and the probability of non-occurrence of an event is 1.

\begin{aligned} &P(E)+P(\bar{E})=1 \\ &0.85+P(\bar{E})=1 \\ &P(\bar{E})=1-0.85 \\ &P(\bar{E})=0.15 \end{aligned}

Therefore, the probability that it will not rain tomorrow is = 0.15
