Find: The curved surface area of hemisphere with radius 21 cm.
Solution:
When we divide the sphere into two equal halves, we get a hemisphere. The curved surface area of the hemisphere plus the base area will add up to the hemisphere's total surface area.
Given radius of the hemisphere, r = 21 cm
Curved surface area of the hemisphere = 2π r2
= 2×(22/7)×212
= 2×22×3×21
= 2772 cm2
Hence the curved surface area of the hemisphere is 2772 cm2.
