Solution:
The curved surface area is equal to the whole area of the sphere since the sphere is completely curved.
Given surface area of the sphere = 154 cm2
Surface area of the sphere = 4π r2
4×(22/7)×r2 = 154
r2 = 154 ×7/(22×4)
= 49/4
r = √49/2
Diameter = 2×r = 2×√49/2 = √49 = 7
Hence the diameter of the sphere is 7 cm.
