Find the surface area of a sphere of diameter: 3.5 cm
Solution:
The curved surface area is equal to the whole area of the sphere since the sphere is completely curved.
Given diameter of the sphere, d = 3.5 cm
Radius, r = d/2 = 3.5/2 = 1.75
Surface area of the sphere = 4π r2
= 4×(22/7)×1.752
= 38.5 cm2
Hence the surface area of the sphere is 38.5 cm2.
