Question 6 Mensuration Exercise 17.2

Diameter of the base of a cone is 10.5 cm and slant height is 10 cm. Find its curved surface area.

Answer:

Solution:

The shape of a cone is produced by stacking several triangles and spinning them around an axis. It has a total surface area and a curved surface area because it has a flat base.

Given diameter of the cone = 10.5 cm

Radius, r = d/2 = 10.5/2 = 5.25 cm

Slant height of the cone, l =10 cm

Curved surface area of the cone = π rl

= (22/7)×5.25×10 = 165 cm2

Hence the curved surface area of the cone is 165 cm2. M L Aggarwal - Understanding ICSE Mathematics - Class 10 chapter Mensuration Question 6 Solution image
