Question 12 Mensuration Exercise 17.1

The area of the curved surface of a cylinder is 4400 cm2, and the circumference of its base is 110 cm.

Find the height of the cylinder.

Answer:

Solution:

The area of any given cylinder's curved surface with a base radius of "r" and a height of "h" is referred to as the "curved surface area of a cylinder" (CSA)

Given curved surface area of a cylinder = 4400 cm2

Circumference of its base = 110 cm

2π r = 110

r = 110/2π = (110×7)/2×22 = 17.5 cm

Curved surface area of a cylinder, 2π rh = 4400

2×(22/7)×17.5×h = 4400

h = (4400×7)/2×22×17.5

= 40 cm

Hence the height of the cylinder is 40 cm. M L Aggarwal - Understanding ICSE Mathematics - Class 10 chapter Mensuration Question 12 Solution image
