Question 10

Q10) By selling an article for ₹825, a man loses \frac{1}{3} equal to j of its selling price

Find :

(i) the cost price of the article,

(ii) the profit percent or the loss percent made if the same article is sold for ₹1265.

Solution:

SP of an article = Rs. 825

Loss = \frac{1}{3} of SP = \frac{1}{3}\times825=Rs.\ 275

(i) ∴ CP = SP + Loss

= 825 + 275 = 1100 Rs.

(ii) In second case,

SP = Rs. 1265

∴ Gain = SP - CP

= 1265 - 1100 = Rs. 165

Gain% = \frac{gain\times100}{CP}=\frac{165\times100}{1100}=15\%
