A distance of 14.4km is covered in2 hours 40 minutes. Find the speed in ms^{-1}. With this speed Sakshi goes to her school, 240m away from her house and then returns back. How much time, in all will Sakshi take?

Solution 10:

Distance= 14.4km

Time taken to cover = 2 hrs 40 minutes

=2\frac{2}{3}=\frac{8}{3}hrs

(i) Speed in m/s= \frac{14.4\times1000}{\frac{8}{3}\times3600}

\frac{144\times1000\times3}{10\times8\times3600}=\frac{3}{2}ms^{-1}

(ii) Distance from house to school and back

=240+240=480m

Time taken = \frac{480}{1.5}\sec onds

=\frac{480\times10}{15}=320\ \sec onds

=\frac{320}{60}\min=50\min\ 20\sec
