Question 1 Mean Median And Mode Of Ungrouped Data Exercise 18C

Find the median of:

(i) 2, 10, 9, 9, 5, 2, 3, 7, 11

(ii) 15, 6, 16, 8, 22, 21, 9, 18, 25

(iii) 20, 13, 18, 25, 6, 15, 21, 9, 16, 8, 22

(iv) 7, 4, 2, 5, 1, 4, 0, 10, 3, 8, 5, 9, 2

Answer:

(i) By arranging the numbers in ascending order

We get

2, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 9, 10, 11

We know that n = 9 is odd

So we get

Median = ½ (n + 1) th term

By substituting the values

Median = ½ (9 + 1) th term

It can be written as

Median = value of the 5th term = 7

We get

Median = 7

(ii) By arranging the numbers in ascending order

We get

6, 8, 9, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22, 25

We know that n = 9 is odd

So we get

Median = ½ (n + 1) th term

By substituting the values

Median = ½ (9 + 1) th term

It can be written as

Median = value of the 5th term = 16

We get

Median = 16

(iii) By arranging the numbers in ascending order

We get

6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 25

We know that n = 11 is odd

So we get

Median = ½ (n + 1) th term

By substituting the values

Median = ½ (11 + 1) th term

It can be written as

Median = value of the 6th term = 16

We get

Median = 16

(iv) By arranging the numbers in ascending order

We get

0, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10

We know that n = 13 is odd

So we get

Median = ½ (n + 1) th term

By substituting the values

Median = ½ (13 + 1) th term

It can be written as

Median = value of the 7th term = 4

We get

Median = 4

"hello students welcome to leader homework my name is anand anand sharma question is find the median of all the given numbers starting with the first one here first of all note down all the numbers in ascending order ascending order is 2 2 3 5 7 9 9 10 and 11 so if you count these are n is equal to 9 which is odd so the median formula will be 1 by 2 in bracket n plus 1 so 1 by 2 9 plus 1 will be fifth term and fifth term is seven so first median is seven second ascending order its ascending order will be starting with 6 8 9 15 16 18 21 22 and 25 now if you count again these are n is equal to 9 which is odd so median will be fifth term and here fifth term is 16 so median is 16 for the third one let me clear the broad okay now third one here again arrange them into ascending order which is 6 8 9 13 15 16 18 20 21 22 25 so here n is a 11 which is odd so median formula will be 1 by 2 in bracket n plus 1 which is 1 by 2 11 plus 1 sixth term so median equal to check which one is the sixth term in the sequence that is 16 so 16 is the answer and last that is fourth one arrange them into ascending order it is 0 1 2 2 3 four four then five five then seven then eight nine and last ten so here if you count n is 13 so median will be 1 by 2 13 plus 1 term which will be seventh term and the seventh term is four so this median is 4 that's all for this question if you have any queries feel free to comment below and don't forget to subscribe to the channel thank you"
