Question 2 Mean Median And Mode Of Ungrouped Data Exercise 18A

The number of children in 10 families of a locality are 2, 4, 3, 4, 2, 0, 3, 5, 1 and 6. Find the mean number of children per family.

Answer:

It is given that number of children in 10 families of a locality are 2, 4, 3, 4, 2, 0, 3, 5, 1 and 6.

We know that

Mean = sum of numbers/ total numbers

By substituting the values

Mean = (2 + 4 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 0 + 3 + 5 + 1 + 6)/ 10

On further calculation

Mean = 30/10

By division

Mean = 3

Therefore, the mean number of children per family is 3.
