 # RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 8 Mathematics Solutions for Linear Equations Exercise 8B in Chapter 8 - Linear Equations

2/3 of a number is 20 less than the original number. Find the number.

Let the original number be x.

According to the question we can write as (2/3)x+20=x

On rearranging x-(2/3)x=20

Now taking the L.C.M of 1 and 3 is 3

(3x-2x)/3=20

x/3=20

Again by transposing x=6o

So the original number is 60

"hello students i am vita your maths leader tutor and the today's question is 2 by 3 of a number is 20 less than the original number find the number first of all we let the number be x let the number be x and according to question it is given that 2 by 3 of a number 2 by 3 of a number is 20 less than the original number original number is x minus 20 now we solve this equation 2 by 3 x is 2 by 3 x is equal to x minus 20 when minus 20 comes to the left hand side it becomes plus and 2 by 3 x comes to the right hand side it becomes minus so 20 is equal to x minus 2 by 3 x now we take the lcm of 1 and 3 that is 3 1 threes are three so three into x three x minus three ones are three so two ones are two now we got twenty into three is equal to three minus two one x so twenty into three we got sixty it means the value of x is equal to 60 so this is our answer i hope you like this video so please subscribe video for more updates and do comment your question thank you "
