Four-fifth of a number is more than three-fourth of the number by 4. Find the number.
Answer:
Let us consider the number as ‘x’
So, Three-fourth of the number is 3x/4
Fourth-fifth of the number is 4x/5
4x/5 – 3x/4 = 4
By taking LCM of 5 and 4 is 20
(16x – 15x)/20 = 4
By cross-multiplying we get,
16x – 15x = 4(20)
x = 80
∴ The number is 80 .
