 # RD Sharma Solutions Class 8 Mathematics Solutions for Volume Surface Area Cuboid Cube Exercise 21.1 in Chapter 21 - Volume Surface Area Cuboid Cube

Question 6 Volume Surface Area Cuboid Cube Exercise 21.1

A cuboidal wooden block contains 36 cm3 wood. If it be 4 cm long and 3 cm wide, find its height.

Given details are,

Volume of wooden block = 36 cm3

Length of the wooden block = 4 cm

Breadth of a wooden block = 3 cm

Let height of wooden block be ‘h’ cm

We know that, l × b × h = 36 cm3

h = 36/( l × b)

= 36/(4×3)

= 3cm

[Music] hello dear student i am sunita nair from leader learning and here's a problem for you to do a cuboidal wooden block contains 36 cubic centimeters of wood if it is four centimeters long and three centimeters wide find its height all right now i've shown you a picture of what is what a wooden cuboidal block would look like right and the wood that is contained in it or the wood that is used to make this block is the volume of the block right so now it is given that the volume is 36 cubic centimeters of wood so let's write that down volume equals equals 36 cubic centimeters right now what is a volume by definition of a cuboid volume is is given by the product of the length into the breadth into the height all right so we know that it is four centimeters long and three centimeters wide or three centimeters broad right so volume volume is equal to centimeters long into 3 centimeters wide into h which we have to find out and this is equal to 36 centimeter cube right so what will our height then be height would be 36 divided by the product of the length and the breadth all right so 36 cubic centimeters divided by four centimeters into three centimeters so let's cancel the numbers first here you get nine and here we get three so we get three and as for the units we have centimeter into centimeter centimeter squared in the denominator and centimeter cubed in the numerator so those cancel and we are left with just one one unit of centimeter all right so that is three centimeter so our height is three centimeters so i hope you understood this explanation it was a very easy sum do visit our channel for more such homework solutions and subscribe to it for updates thank you
