Question 13 Ratio, Proportion and Unitary Method Exercise 9.4

2 dozens of oranges cost Rs 60. Find the cost of 120 similar oranges?

It is given that

Cost of 2 dozens of oranges = Rs 60

We know that

Cost of 1 orange = Rs 60/24

So the cost of 120 similar oranges = 60/24 (120) = Rs 300

Hence, the cost of 120 similar oranges is Rs 300.

Video transcript
hello students welcome to lido homework my name is neera nirola and in today's q a video we are going to solve a word problem so let us read the question together two dozens of oranges cost rupees 60 find the cost of 120 similar oranges right so let us see what is given to us so in the question it has mentioned that two dozen of oranges we know that one dozen it corresponds to 12 pieces or 12 units okay therefore two dozen will correspond to 2 into 12 units or pieces that is equal to 24 therefore when the question is saying two dozens of oranges it basically means that 24 oranges goes rupees 60. so this is what is given to us cost of 24 oranges is equal to rupees 60 right therefore in order to find the cost of 120 similar oranges i first need to find what will be the cost of one oranges if i know what will be the cost of one oranges then i can easily find what will be the of 120 oranges by just multiplying it with that cost of one orange right so for that i will find out first the cost of one orange one orange and this basically is called as united method okay so cost of 1 orange is equal to 60 divided by 24 now try to simplify this by just dividing the numerator and denominator by its height cf in this case it is 12. so dividing both the numerator and denominator by 12 what do we get 60 divided by 12 is 5 24 divided by 20 12 is 2 so 5 by 2 is the cost of one orange now let us find out what would be the cost of 120 similar range therefore cost of 120 similar oranges will be equal to cost of one orange that is five by two into the number of oranges we are trying to that is one twenty right so two ones is two two six size one twenty five into 60 will give me 300 rupees 300 right so since this is a word problem the answer also should be in terms of statement so how can we write this hence the required required cost of 120 similar oranges 120 similar oranges is rupees 300 that's it so with this we have completed this q a video if there is any doubt do post it in the comment below and for such videos do subscribe to lido bye take care
