Answer:

Distance travelled by bullock-cart = 24 km in 3 hours

Distance travelled by train = 120 km in 2 hours

It can be written as

Distance travelled by bullock-cart = 24 km/ 3 = 8 km

Distance travelled by train = 120 km/2 = 60 km

So the ratio of their speeds = 8/60

Dividing the two terms by HCF 4

Ratio of their speeds = (8/60) × (4/4) = 2/15

Hence, the ratio of their speeds is 2: 15.

hello students welcome to lido homework my name is nir nirola and in today's q a video we are going to solve a word problem that involves ratios so let's read the question together a bullock car travels 24 kilometer in three hours and a trend travels 120 kilometer in two hours find the ratio of their speeds so the question is asking us to find the ratio of the speeds so that means we need to know what is the formula of speed and how to derive speed from the given parameters so we know that speed is equal to distance divided by time distance divided by time so basically distance travel and the time taken to travel the distance so now let us see what is given to us so given to us is that a blue car travels 24 kilometer in three hours that is distance traveled by bulacart in three hours is equal to 24 kilometer and distance traveled by trend in 2 hours equal to 120 kilometer since the question is asking us to find the ratio of the speeds we will also try to calculate the speed of the below cart and the speed of the trend so let us find out what is the speed of the bullet card speed of the below card is given by the distance travelled by the below card that is 24 kilometer and the time taken to travel that much distance that is three hours so three ones is three and three eight zero is 24 that means the speed of the bullet card is eight kilometer per hour similarly speed yeah we'll quickly erase this okay speed of the trend is equal to the distance travelled by the trend that is 120 kilometer and the time taken to travel that much distance that is two hours which will give me 60 kilometer per hour therefore the ratio of the speed is 8 is to 60 that is 8 kilometer per hour is to 60 kilometer per hour this can be written as 8 divided by 60 always remember the ratio should be in its simplest form in its lowest form now in order to convert this in its lowest form i'm going to first write it in terms of fraction now i'm going to reduce this fraction to its lowest form now in order to reduce this fraction to its lowest form you are supposed to divide both the numerator and denominator by the hcf of the two numbers so in this case the hcf is going to be 4 so i'm going to divide both the numerator and denominator by 4 this will give me 2 by four one size four four five zero is twenty two by fifteen right so therefore the ratio is two is to fifteen hence the required ratios or the required ratio actually no ratios the required ratio of their speeds of their speeds is 2 is to 15 where 2 corresponds to the speed of the bullet card and 15 corresponds to the speed of the trend so with this we have completed today's q a video if you like the video please do subscribe to lido and if there is any doubt please post it in the comment below bye take care you
