During a sale, color pencils were being sold in packs of 24 each and crayons in packs of 32 each. If you want full packs of both and the same number of pencils and crayons, how many of each would you need to buy?
So to get full packs of both colour pencils and crayons and also of the same numbers in quantity, we need to find the number of packets each needs to be bought.
It’s given that,
Number of colour pencils in a pack = 24 Number of crayons in a pack = 32.
So, the least number of both colour pencils and crayons need to be purchased is given by their LCM.
L.C.M of 24 and 32 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 = 96
∴ the number of packs of pencils to be bought = 96 / 24 = 4 packs
And, the number of packs of crayon to be bought = 96 / 32 = 3 packs
