Question 4 Linear Equations in Two Variables- Exercise 4.3

Draw the graph of the linear equation whose solutions are represented by the points having the sum of the coordinates as 10 units.

According to the question,

We get the linear equation,

x + y = 10

We get,

x = 10 – y

Values of x and y satisfying the equation=

Plotting the graph:

"hello everyone i am sumanjali math tutor from leader learning welcome to question and answer session given question is draw the graph of the linear equation whose solutions are represented by the points having the sum of the coordinates as 10 units okay so first of all we can write coordinate as x comma y the coordinate always having this form only okay so according to the problem some of the coordinates is equals to 10 units therefore x plus y x plus y these are the sum of the coordinates is equals to 10 units okay so if x value is known how we can how we can calculate y value so y value is equals to y is equals to 10 minus x okay so for different values of x now i am writing the values of y okay for different values of x so this is x value this is y is equals to 10 minus x okay so if x is equals to 0 10 minus if x is equals to 0 10 minus a 0 the y value is 10 if x is equals to 1 y value is 9 10 minus 1 if x is equals to 2 y value is 8 if x is equals to 3 y value is equals to 7 and if x is equals to minus 1 if x is equals to minus 1 then the value of then the value of y is 10 minus of minus 1 okay which is is equals to 11 okay if x is equals to minus 2 the value is 10 minus of minus 2 so that the value is 12 if x is equals to minus 3 the value will be 13 okay now i'm plotting the points so at x is equals to 0 so this is x axis i plotted positive and negative values of x and this is the y axis okay i took a scale so on x axis scale is on x axis one unit equals to one and on y axis one unit equals to two units okay so this is how i took scale on x axis and y axis coming to the first point if x is equals to 0 the value of y the value of y is equals to 10 okay that is here this is our first point okay so if x is equals to 1 the value of y is 9 okay so between 10 and between 10 and 8 the value is 9 here okay so this is 9 and if x is equals to 2 the value is 8 okay so this is 8 if x is equals to 3 the value is 7 okay this is 7 this is 7 and this is 8 and if x is equals to minus 1 the value is 11 that is here preferably this is 11 and if x is equals to minus 2 the value is 12 if x is equals to minus 3 the value is 13 okay that is here this is 13 this is 12 okay so now we can join all the points we can join all the points by using a straight line like this okay so this is the line this is the graph which represents x plus y equals to 10 okay x plus y is equals to 10 and also all the points are collinear points all points points satisfying x plus y equals to 10 are collinear points that means all will lie on a same line all points are collinear okay that's all hope you understand if you have further questions reach us at comment section and subscribe to the channel leader learning for further queries thank you"
