Question 53 Linear Equations in One Variable - Exercise

((0.2x + 5)/ (3.5x - 3)) = (2/5)

Answer:

We have,

((0.2x + 5)/ (3.5x - 3)) = (2/5)

By cross multiplication, we get

5 × (0.2x + 5) = 2 × (3.5x - 3)

x + 25 = 7x - 6

Transposing x to RHS it becomes - x and -6 to LHS it becomes 6.

25 + 6 = 7x – x

31 = 6x

x = 31/6

"hello students i am rita your math leader tutor and the today's question is 0.2 x plus 5 whole divided by 3.5 x minus 3 is equal to 2 by 5 so in this question we cross multiply each other when we cross multiply then 5 multiplies 0.2 x plus 5 is equal to 2 bracket 3.5 x minus 3. now we apply the distributive property 5 into 0.2 so it becomes 1.0 x plus 5 into 5 we got 25 then 2 into 3.5 then it becomes 7.0 x minus 2 into 3 then it becomes 6 now we separate out the variables 7 and constant what constant are 2.5 and 6 so 1.0 x minus 7.0 x is equal to minus 6 minus 25 so minus 6x is equal to minus 6x is equal to minus 31 so the value of x is equal to minus 31 divided by minus 6 minus minus cancel out each other it means the value of x is equal to 31 divided by six so this is our answer i hope you like this video so please subscribe please for more updates and do comment your questions thank you"
