# NCERT Exemplar Solutions Class 8 Mathematics Solutions for Linear Equations in One Variable - Exercise in Chapter 4 - Linear Equations in One Variable

Question 50 Linear Equations in One Variable - Exercise

((2x - 3)/(4x + 5)) = (1/3)

We have,

((2x - 3)/(4x + 5)) = (1/3)

By cross multiplication, we get

3 × (2x - 3) = 1 × (4x + 5)

6x – 9 = 4x + 5

Transposing -9 to RHS it becomes 9 and 4x to LHS it becomes – 4x.

6x – 4x = 5 + 9

2x = 14

x = 14/2

x = 7

"hello students i am rita your math leader tutor and the today's question is 2x minus 3 divided by 4 x plus 5 is equal to 1 by 3 we have to solve this equation so we do cross multiply when we cross multiply so 3 bracket 2 x minus 3 is equal to 1 multiply 4 x plus 5 so we apply the distributive property 3 is multiplied by both and 1 is multiplied by both then 3 into 2 6 x and 3 3's are 9 1 into 4 x 4 x and 1 into 5 5 now we separate out the variable so it becomes 6 x minus 4 x is equal to and we separate out the constant term that is plus 5 and minus 9 goes to there goes to the other side by the process of transposition it becomes plus 9 9 plus 5 14 and 6 minus 4 that is 2x so the value of x is equal to 14 divided by 2 2 into 7 so the value of x is equal to 7 so this is our answer i hope you like this video so please subscribe video for more updates and do comment your questions thank you"
