Let us assume total number of students in the school be y.

From the question it is given that,

The number of students come by car = (2/5) × x

The number of students come by bus = (¼) × x

Remaining students walk to school = x – ((2x/5) + (¼x))

= x – ((8x – 5x)/20)

= x – (13x/20)

= (20x – 13x)/20

= 7x/20

Then, number of students walk to school on their own = (1/3) of (7x/20)

= 7x/60

Since, 224 students come to school on their own.

As per the data given in the question,

= (7x/60) = 224

x = (224 × 60)/7

x = 32 × 60

x = 1920

∴The total number of students in that school is 1920.

"hello students welcome to lido homework let us solve the question that's given on our screen today it reads two by five of total number of students of a school come by car while one by four of students come by bus to school okay so their first sentence says that apart two by five is not the number over here it's a part or the fraction of total students okay so two-fifths of total students come by car one fourth of them come by bus now the second sentence says all the other students after removing car and bus student whatever is remaining all of them walk to school now i they walk to school by two ways of which one third walk on their own and the rest are escorted by their parents okay so walking students are also divided into two parts first is one third of them work on their own and the rest are walking with their parents now if two 24 students come to school working on their own how many students study in that school okay so they have given a number 224 this number is the students who come to school working on their own that is the one third of the remaining students that is the one third of the remaining students after subtracting 1 4 plus 2 by 5 actually come by walk that is 224 so let us use this information first so i'm not taking any x value initially i'm taking all the fractions okay so i write it as part of students by bus okay i'm not writing the whole thing that is equal to 2 by 5 okay and then part of students by car who travel by car to school is one by four now in a fraction the whole is one okay the whole is always considered as part one so all from one when you subtract two by five and one by four the remaining is the part that come by walk so therefore you can write it as part that come by walk instead of part you can also write fraction that is from the whole you are subtracting 2 by 5 plus 1 by 4 clear so this can also be simplified as 1 minus now when you simplify this you are getting 13 by 20 so when you subtract it from 1 you are getting 7 by 20. so 7 by 20 part of the whole children come by walk so out of this 7 by 20 from the 7 by 20 now it's not from 1 from the 7 by 20 one third walk on their own so you write part or fraction okay who walk on their own is what one third one third of what of the remaining student so it becomes one third of seven by 20. so when you simplify this you get the answer as 7 by 60 so 7 by 60 of the whole part now the 7 by 60 is not out of 7 by 20 because that we have calculated so 7 by 60 of the whole part walk on their own now that number is also given 224 students come to school working on their own so we take the 7 by 60 of the whole all the students in the school so let x be total students in the school total students in school so according to the given sentence one third work on their own and if 224 student come to school working on their own so if we equate both the information what do we get we get it as just a minute i'll raise this part yeah so you get it as 7 by 60 into x of the total number of students is equal to 224 now this is simple linear equation so x is equal to 224 into 60 by 7. when you simplify this you get the value as 1920 so that is the total number of students so you can come conclude the solution step writing therefore total number of students there that study in school that's the question okay total number of students that study in school is equal to 1 9 two zero i hope it's clear if you still have any doubt put a message in the comment section and subscribe to our channel for regular updates bye"
