Video transcript
"hello students welcome to lido q a video session i am saf your match tutor and question for today is three girls reshma salma and mandip are playing a game by standing on a circle of radius 5 meter drawn in the park reshma throws a ball to salma salma to mandeep and mandeep to preshma if the distance between reishma and salman between salma and mandip is 6 meter each what is the distance between reshma and mandip so as given in the figure we will refer the figure let's solve it let the position of the reshma salma and mandib be represented by a b c and these are the positions of these three girls now as from the question we know that a b is equal to bc is equal to 6 centimeter it is given that distance between reishma and salma and between salma and mandip is 6 and 6 meter each so distance a b is equal to bc is equal to 6 meter here so the radius of the circle that is o a will be equal to 5 meter because the circle of radius it is given this is the 5 meter that is why here we can say that the radius of the circle oh a is 5 meter now let us draw a perpendicular bm which is perpendicular to ac so bm is perpendicular to ac since a b is equal to bc now abc can be considered as an isosceles triangle so m is the midpoint of ac and bm is the perpendicular bisector of ac and thus it passes through the center of the circle so i can write here since a b is equal to bc now as this is an isosceles triangle m is the midpoint of point ac you can see that and moreover in the figure bm is perpendicular bisector of ac and thus it passes through the center of the circle now from the figure let am is equal to y and om is equal to x i'll take this on next page so bm bm will be equal to phi minus x radius is 5 meter hence bm will be equal to phi minus x now by applying bythagoras theorem in triangle om we get oa square is equal to om square plus am square and thus by applying this pythagoras theorem let us try to find the value of unknowns so phi square will be equal to x square plus y square x and y are unknowns again by applying pythagoras theorem we can conclude that in triangle amb ab square is equal to bm square plus km square and hence a b is 6 so 6 square is equal to 5 minus x whole square plus y square let this be equation 1 and this be the equation 2 subtracting equation 1 from the equation 2 we will get 36 minus 25 is equal to 5 minus x whole square minus x square minus y square now solve this you will get the value of x as x is equal to 7 upon 5 now substitute this value of x in equation 1 to get the y so let this be third point so substitute three result three in 1 and hence you will get here y square plus 49 by 25 is equal to 25 y square plus 49 upon 25 equal to 25 hence y square comes out to be 25 minus 49 upon 25 hence value of y we can find it as y is equal to 24 upon phi thus from this we can say that ac is equal to 2 into am that is 2 into y and which is equal to 2 into 24 upon 5. hence ac value is 9.6 meter so we can say that the distance between reishma and mandip is 9.6 meter that is our final answer ac is equal to 9.6 meter if you have any query you can drop it in our comment section and subscribe to lido for more such q a thank you for watching "
