Question 2 Problems on Simultaneous Linear Equations Exercise 6

The sum of the two numbers is 50 and their difference is 16. Find the numbers.

Let’s assume the two numbers to be x and y

Then according to the given conditions, we have

x + y = 50 … (i) and

x – y = 16 … (ii)

Now, adding (i) and (ii) we get

2x = 66

x = 33

On substituting the value of x in (i), we get

33 + y = 50

y = 50 – 33

y = 17

Therefore, the two numbers are 33 and 17.

"guys welcome to lido q a video i am vinit your leto tutor bringing you this question on your screen the sum of two numbers is 50 and the difference is 16. find the numbers now let the numbers be x and y then this sum is equal to 50 right and the difference is equal to 16. now when you add the two equations y and y gets cancelled 2x is equal to 66 so to 33 replacing x equal to 33 in any one of the equation we get y is equal to 50 minus 33 so this is equal to 70 therefore the numbers are 33 and 17. isn't that easy guys if you still have a doubt please leave a comment below do like the video and subscribe to our channel i'll see you in our next video until then bye guys keep practicing"
