The wheel of a cart is making 5 revolutions per second. If the diameter of the wheel is 84 cm, find its

speed in km/hr. Give your answer correct to the nearest km.

Answer:

It is given that

Diameter of wheel = 84 cm

Radius of wheel = 84/2 = 42 cm

Here

Circumference of wheel = 2πr

Substituting the values

= 2 × 22/7 × 42

= 264 cm

So the distance covered in 5 reductions = 264 × 5 = 1320 cm

Time = 1 second

We know that

Speed of wheel = 1320/1 × (60 × 60)/ (100 × 1000)

= 47.25 km/hr

= 48 km/hr
