Given:

(A + B + C) can plough a field in = 4 4/5 days = 24/5 days

(A + B + C)’s 1 day work = 5/24 days

(A + C) can plough a field in = 8 days

(A + C)’s 1 day work = 1/8 days

B’s 1 day work = (5/24) – 1/8

= (5-3)/24

= 2/24

= 1/12

∴ B can do the work in 12 days
