A man buys 200 ten-rupee shares at Rs. 12.50 each and receives a dividend of 8%.
Find the amount invested by him and the dividend received by him in cash.
Given face value of shares = Rs. 10
Number of shares = 200
Therefore face value of 200 shares = 10 × 200
= Rs. 2000
Now, amount invested for the purchase of 200 shares at the rate of Rs. 12.50 each
= 12.50 × 200
= Rs. 2500
Given that rate of dividend = 8%
Therefore total amount of dividend = (2000 × 8)/100
= Rs. 160
