Q13) State the ‘law of conservation of mass.’ State the main points of Landolt’s experiment for experimental evidence of the law.

Solution:

The ‘law of conservation of mass’ says that mass in an isolated system is neither created nor destroyed by chemical reactions or physical transformations. The mass of the products in a chemical reaction must equal the mass of the reactants.

In Landolt’s experiment, NaCl\ and\ AgNO_3 were taken in a U-Shaped tube and weighed. The tubes were tilted to let the solutions mix and react with each other. They were weighed again and the weight was the same as before.
