A gas at 240 K is heated to l27°C. Find the Percentage change in the volume of the gas (pressure remaining constant).
Let volume = 100 ml
T = 240 K
Volume increased = x ml
New volume = 100 + x ml
T1 = 400 K
Using the gas equation
PV = P1V1
T T1
P x 100/240
P x (100 + x)/400
1000 = 6( 100 + x)/400
1000= 600 + 6x
6x = 400
X = 400/6
= 66.6
Percentage increased = 66.6 %
