# Selina Solutions Class 9 Chemistry Solutions for Exercise Number Problems in Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Study Of Gas Laws

Question 21 Number Problems

A given amount of gas A is confined in a chamber of constant volume. When the chamber is immersed in a bath of melting ice, the pressure of the gas is 100 cm Hg.

(a) What is the temperature, when the pressure is 10 cm Hg

(b) What will be the pressure, when the chamber is brought to 100°C?

Answer:

a) V1 = V2 = V

P1 = 100 cmHg

T1 = 273 K

P2 = 10 cmHg

T2=?

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

100 x V/273 = 10 x V/T2

b) V1 = V2 = V

P1 = 100 cmHg

P2= ?

T1 = 273 K

T2 = 373 K

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

100 x V/273= P2 x V/373

P2 = 136.63 cm of Hg
